ABOUT ME
Welcome to my website! My name is Maria Kershaw and I'm 15 years old. I became interested in photography because my sister took this class 2 years ago and seemed to really love it.
This semester, I started taking Photo 1 and became a yearbook photographer. Taking both classes at once really helped me to understand many types of photography. I take digital photos in yearbook and edit them in photoshop to make them look how I want. The photos I take on film are a bit harder to take and edit so I prefer digital, but both types have their up side. I enjoy film photography because because you can't hit delete so it forces you to take good photos on the first try. It made it easier for me to get an eye on the type of photos I want, and take better pictures in the first place so that they require less editing.
My favorite things to take pictures of are people and nature. I think pictures of nature turn out the best though. There are so many angles that you can shoot from and 20 pictures of one flower could all look different. You can zoom in, zoom out, take one from above, and one looking straight at it. It's amazing what you can do with it.
I really enjoyed taking Photo 1 this semester because it's really cool to see the photos that I took appear on what looks like blank paper when I put them in the developer. I love the feeling of working hard to make a great final product. Film photography takes a lot of effort, but it's worth it in the end to know that you made something out of nothing.
